We are thrilled to announce our partnership with First Bus Group, as Brookes Contracting takes great pride in spearheading the full electrification of First Bus Leicester with state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure.
Brookes Contracting is proud to be at the forefront of sustainable transportation advancements with our latest project at First Bus' Leicester depot. This ambitious endeavor marks a significant milestone in the UK's road transport decarbonisation efforts, as it becomes one of the first fully electrified bus depots outside of London.
Our team is dedicated to supporting First Bus in their mission to embrace greener solutions for public transportation. By 2024, a remarkable fleet of 86 new electric buses will grace the streets of Leicester, setting a powerful example for nationwide environmental change.
At the heart of this transformation lies our expertise in EV infrastructure development. Over 50 state-of-the-art chargers have been meticulously installed at the First Bus Depot, ensuring efficient and reliable charging capabilities for the entire fleet.
To accommodate the substantial electrical system required, our innovative approach led us to design a unique installation method. By employing structural steel support gantries and five remarkable motorway-style gantries, we were able to position the electrical system entirely above ground. This not only streamlines maintenance and accessibility but also adds a visually striking element to the site.
